I’m Kira, a Catholic, wife, mother, God-fearing, do-it-yourselfer, homesteading, Go Dawgs-ing, animal loving kind of Savannah belle. Our family lives on 4 acres in Savannah, Georgia and are abundantly blessed with a flourishing garden and menagerie of animals including horses, goats, dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, ducks, geese, one guinea, and a donkey named Cinnmaon. Life is a grand adventure, and we find simple joys and new purposes around every corner. The newest venture is my life as an author and speaker. My book Veiled In Goodness: A Catholic Guide For Young Women Seeking Marriage & Motherhood is available through Amazon, Saints & Shamrocks store in Savannah, Georgia, & all major retailers.

Not all of them feel this way, but since it is technically required in ordered to get married in the Catholic Church, it can become just another thing on the wedding to-do list. https://www.instagram.com/p/DQHeAWxjoW8/ When I was a child, I went from Savannah to Atlanta every other weekend to be with my dad. Some weekends, my mom would meet him halfway in a McDonald’s parking lot, but starting when I was four years old, some weekends, I flew back & forth by myself. I remember looking at my first child when she was that age in disbelief that I did that, but the world was different then & I was always helpfully tended to by a stewardess until I reached my parent. Those flights shaped me in a lot of ways. Being plopped down by a stranger at such a young age, before portable electronics existed, honed my social skills. I’d meet “friends” every time I flew & had many a wonderful conversation. More often than not, the words that wake me up in my inbox every morning are exactly what I need to hear. Sometimes, they even make it up somewhere where I can seem them sporadically throughout my day. As we get ready for the upcoming Pre-Cana retreat, we prepare for the physical needs of the retreat such as information packets, food, drinks, projectors, microphones, speakers, and more, but we also prepare our hearts for the spiritual needs. “Who’s Mary?” said the woman.
